Charles Alan Rye is a creative director specializing in the technical aspects of production design. His is passionate about using his varied experience of production design including fabrication, lighting, sound, lasers, projection, and large scale video walls to help artists realize their creative visions at scale. From a young age, Charles has dedicated his life to producing experiences for a live audience. With a degree in theatrical lighting, sound, and set design, he brings a nuanced vocabulary to his work. Pushing boundaries, he has a history of using the tools available to create things that transcend the limitations of those tools. Through his work with a small creative collective, he was able to bring their creative ideas to life at a scale inconceivable to the artists at that time. His vision for a mobile art stage structure for FORM festival elevated and expanded the work of the artists to the front page of the New York Times art section. Working with other artists to bring a creative vision to life is what fuels him. It is this spirit of collaboration and connection that drives him, always striving to create work that is greater than the sum of all it’s parts. This is the magic of collaboration.
