Richard Heipp has an extensive national exhibition record including over thirty solo exhibitions in museums and galleries and his work has been featured in well over one hundred group exhibitions. His paintings are included in numerous public and private collections nationally including the Jacksonville Museum of Contemporary Art, the Harn Museum of Art, Polk Museum of Art, the Progressive Companies, Miami University, McGraw Hill Co. in NY, and the City of Seattle. He has also been commissioned to complete 20 site-specific public art projects with budgets ranging from $10,000 to $100,000.00. Heipp has received six State of Florida, Individual Artist Fellowships, a Southern Arts Federation, National Endowment for the Arts fellowship in painting, and was honored by the Southeastern College Arts Association with the Outstanding Artistic Achievement Award in 2006. In 2018 a retrospective exhibition was organized by the Polk Museum of Art which then traveled to the University of North Carolina Charlotte and to Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth Texas and concluded it’s run at UF’s University Gallery in 2021. Heipp taught painting at the University of Florida for 40 years retireing in May 2021 to concentrate on his studio practice. He served as the Director of the School of Art and Art History from 2010 to 2015. While at UF Heipp was honored with a prestigious UF Research Foundation Professorship as well as two College of Fine Arts Teacher of the Year awards.
