Mural artist and graphic designer, Smoka has been drawing since a very young age. He discovered graffiti and its universe in the 90s. Fascinated by all these colors and these paintings of incredible dimensions, he produced his first frescoes in 1998. Self-taught and a perfectionist by nature, he first explored different styles of lettering using the technique demanding. He then studied graphic design at Quimper and then combined his knowledge with his practice of painting. Integrating the Collective of artists 100 Pressure in Nantes in 2006, he multiplies the projects and discovers new supports: giant facades, canvases, serigraphs…
In collective or solo, he has participated for ten years in various Urban Art projects across Europe in parallel with his painting in the studio which he considers his laboratory of graphic experiments.
His work as a mural painter mixes portraits, typography, patterns, and materials, creating dynamic compositions and a unique universe. Patterns and colors become preponderant elements of his practice, punctuating his works between abstraction and figuration. His frescoes question our beliefs and confront our human certainties with the reality of the world and of Nature.
