TRAV is an American artist best known for his bold, dynamic collage paintings and large-scale wall pieces.
TRAV’s work explores technology's role in the disruption of the physical world, weaving monuments from the built environment with striking patterns and icons from the Internet era. Through techniques learned from graffiti, the formal language of commercial sign painting, and newer technologies like 3D printing, TRAV reframes our memories of the golden era of retail, both real and imagined, in sharp juxtaposition with our dependence on the technologies that have replaced it. The California native discovered his love for creating art through graffiti starting in 1996, painting on walls and trains up and down the west coast.
TRAV obsesses over the relationship he has with his studio work as he creates large body’s of work that inform his public and commercial practices. His work has been featured in exhibitions in Los Angeles, Atlanta, Denver and SXSW, and he has collaborated or been commissioned by brands like Toyota, Intel, Budweiser and Google. He believes living life on his own terms is key to his success.
