Closed - Sculpture for Jaguars Sport Facility
The Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville and its Art in Public Places is announcing seven (7) open Calls to Artists for Miller Electric Center (Jacksonville Jaguars’ Sports Performance Facility). To see them all search all properties. The new practice and training facility is under construction northwest of TIAA Bank Field and is scheduled to open before the 2023 season (see the true look of the site HERE). The Jacksonville Jaguars are a professional football team, one of 32 member clubs of the National Football League (NFL), aligned in the South Division of the American Football Conference (AFC).
PROJECT 3. SCULPTURE
ARTWORK DESCRIPTION:
(1) One, three-dimensional (3D), free-standing, sculpture to be installed adjacent to main entrances of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ new sports performance center. Should not include a light feature. Must withstand hurricane wind gusts of 145 mph. (Reference Full Call to Artist HERE). Objectives:
- Provide an interactive photo opportunity. For example, the fan poses as the ‘i’ in INDY
- Interacts with the surrounding environment. For example, the reflective nature of the Cloud Gate brings in its surroundings in an interesting way due to its convex and concave sections
