Closed - High Sports Themed Silhouettes Installation
The Alachua County Arts Council (“the Committee”) invites artists or artist teams to respond to this Call to Artists for an exterior Sports-themed silhouettes installation on the east wall of the new Alachua County Sports Event Center.
The art site is located at 4870 Celebration Pointe Drive, Gainesville, FL. The ±143,892sf facility is currently under construction at Celebration Pointe and is scheduled to be completed in January 2023.
The Sports Event Center is a sports event facility that will feature track and field events, basketball, volleyball, pickleball, and cheer, in addition to health wellness and fitness training. The exterior east wall provides for a large area for 14’ high sports figure silhouettes that can be attached to the building as shown above. The silhouettes should incorporate symbolic imagery to visually communicate the unique identity of the building and celebrate the building’s interior function allowing by-passers easy recognition of the building’s function. The area is located in an extremely high-volume location so the artwork should reflect its potential exposure.
This call is an open call to all artists and student artists who have prior experience with public art installations made with durable, vandal resistant, materials with an estimated life expectancy of at least 100 years. Submittals must be uploaded to Monochronicle.com by Wednesday, March 9, 2022 (extended).
Budget
The budget for this project is $20,000, which includes, but is not limited to, artists fees, other consultants’ and subcontractors’ fees, insurance conforming to Alachua County Board of County Commissioners standards, engineering, materials fabrication, transportation, installation (including any site modification), and post-installation documentation.

- Deadline: Submit application before midnight Wednesday, March 9, 2022
- Material: Durable outdoor, vandal-resistant
- Resume: Submit PDF that includes artist’s name, address, contact Information, artist’s credentials, experience and awards, information of prior clients including name, address and contact information of three (3) references who are prior clients (include the name of the project)
- Images: Submit 3-6 high-quality images (at least 600x900 pixels) showing an existing sculpture made of durable, vandal-resistant, materials. The images should be of the same artwork
